GS-X™ Pinsetter Provides Outstanding Frames Per Stop
Bowlers Hit High Scores, Break Records on Brunswick Pro Lane™ during 2009 United States Bowling Congress Championships
MUSKEGON, Mich., Sept., 29, 2009 – Records were broken. Hearts were stolen. And over 90,000 competitors at the 2009 United States Bowling Congress (USBC) Championships at the Cashman Center in Las Vegas were bowled over by the high-scoring technology of Brunswick Pro Lane™ synthetic lanes and by the performance of the pinsetters.
The GS-X pinsetters allowed the 154-day tournament to run smoothly with minimal mechanical down-time with an average of 7,375 frames per mechanical stop.
More than 17,200 teams competed during the high-scoring event, which saw 34 perfect games, 17 games of 299, three games of 298 and six three-game blocks on 800 or better.
Three major, high-scoring records were broken during the tournament.
The first honors went to Brunswick team member, Brenda Edwards, and her partner, Stephen Padilla, who set a new all-time doubles record with 1,566. In addition, Edwards had games of 264, 288, and 224 for a 776 series with a Brunswick Python. In the singles event, she added a 300-game with the Python to her high-scoring day. Her All-Events total of 2,132 is the highest achievement ever by a female bowler.
Ron Vokes of Racine, Wis., set the other two records. He bowled 30 consecutive strikes during the singles event and set an all-time record-high average with a 257-plus average for his nine games to take the regular division all-events title.

The USBC Tournament is the largest participatory sporting event in the world.
