Brunswick Pro Staff Star Visits Russia
Sean Rash conducts training sessions in Brunswick-equipped centers
in Moscow and St. Petersburg
ESCHBORN, Germany, June 24, 2008 – Sean Rash, one of bowling’s hottest superstars and a Brunswick Pro Staff player, recently traveled to Russia to help popularize the game of bowling and to provide valuable training to young Russian players. The 2007 USBC Masters Champion conducted several training sessions in Moscow and St. Petersburg recently, electrifying participants with his exceptional skills and excellent coaching. Brunswick, the world-wide leader in bowling, organized the training tour while its Russian distributor, BB&B Russia, coordinated the sessions locally.
Sean Rash trained the aspiring bowlers in a Master-Class format discussing bowling strategy in groups and following up with individual training. The focus, among other areas, was put on increasing the ball speed and rotation, preparation for tournaments and the mental aspect of the game. Additionally, Rash made all attendees aware of the game’s differences for male and female bowlers, and provided insight on the proper technique of ball hooking for both sexes. In total, more than 70 selected players took part in the training in two centers in Moscow’s 22-lane Cosmik Kapitoly, 30-lane Cosmik Belaya and at the 36-lane Bowling City in St. Petersburg. All three centers are fully Brunswick-equipped, featuring Pro Lane™ synthetic lanes, GS-X™ pinsetters and the Vector® scoring system.
Rash has proven his exceptional bowling skills with wins in major tournaments around the world over and over again but now, during his visit in Russia, has also shown that he is equally impressive as a coach. The sympathetic Wichita, Kan., native has greatly helped to improve the play of every training participant and delighted all with his friendly and open character, according to Ivan Maximov of BB&B Russia. “We want to thank Sean for his hard work and his professionalism, which we so much admire. It was hard work during the long days and it required a lot of skill and effort but he has mastered every minute of it with a focused and friendly demeanor. His visit was a great success for Brunswick and the sport of bowling in Russia.”
With all the hard work came some fun for Rash and his pupils. All training participants had the opportunity to receive autographs and take photos with the star bowler who also, as a “guest star,” participated in an amateur tournament in St. Petersburg. After qualifying for the final stepladder, Rash entertained the crowd with numerous trick shots. He eventually took second place after “losing” to the endlessly happy, 11-year-old winner, Stepan Polyansky, who utilized the Brunswick high-performance ball, Total Inferno®, to beat his role model. “I truly enjoyed my first trip to Russia. I hope I can make many more trips to this beautiful country. Together with Brunswick I will work hard to make my next visit even better than this one,” said a visibly satisfied Sean Rash.
