QuadZeus.com Vessel to Debut at Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The world’s first quadruple Zeus®-powered vessel is making its public debut Thursday in Fort Lauderdale, sporting the wildest look ever seen on a sportfish boat.

QuadZeus.com is a 60-foot convertible, powered by four Cummins MerCruiser Diesel QSC8.3-liter 600-hp engine/pod units, giving it joystick maneuverability and outstanding speed and range. The boat will be on display Oct. 29 though Nov. 1 at the Bahia Mar in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., in conjunction with the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show.

And it’ll be hard to miss: It’s wrapped in a mural painted by renowned marine artist Steve Goione.

Central to the design is a 30-plus-foot blue marlin on both sides of the hull, chasing a Goione-signature lure and a trio of mahimahi. The superstructure is adorned with a CMD logo and the marlin’s tail, set against a sunset-sky background. The transom art intertwines the name of the boat with four twin propellers, alluding to the four sets of counter-rotating props hidden beneath the boat.

The art is designed to bring people closer to see what really makes QuadZeus.com special: a 2,400-hp propulsion system that not only replaces a conventional 3,000-plus-hp setup, it turns maneuvering a 60-foot sportfish into child’s play. QuadZeus.com has neither bow nor stern thruster, yet it can be maneuvered virtually any way imaginable – sideways, diagonally, pivoting on its own axis – with simple movements of the intuitive Zeus joystick. It also boasts an integrated advanced autopilot system that provides waypoint tracking and autoheading functionality, and Skyhook®, which maintains the vessel’s position and heading, even in wind and current, with just the touch of a button.

CMD has been manufacturing and integrating twin Zeus pod systems for more than three years now, and a triple-Zeus 76-foot Lazzara motoryacht has splashed and is nearing completion. QuadZeus.com is the first quadruple-Zeus installation to be publicly shown, though there are many more triple and quad Zeus vessels in development with five more slated to be announced in 2010. QuadZeus.com can be seen throughout the show at CMD’s on-water display, located at 1005 Seabreeze Blvd., less than a block south of the show entrance, between the Bahia Mar and the Sheraton Yankee Clipper. CMD also has a display in the show, located in Booth 1209 in the FLIBS Bahia Mar Engine Tent.

The wrap was designed and printed by Image Monster of Wilmington, N.C., and installed at CMD’s Integration Center in Charleston. For more information, or to see pictures of the vessel, please visit www.quadzeus.com. To become a fan on Facebook, search “QuadZeus.”
