Brunswick Dealer Advantage Promotes Dealership Investment in 20 Group Participation through Spader Business Management

LAKE FOREST, Ill. Oct. 11, 2007 – Brunswick Dealer Advantage has announced that it will offer discounted rates for dealers who would like to participate in 20 Groups. Facilitated by Spader Business Management, 20 Groups consist of up to 20 non-competing business professionals who share best practices, review financial performance, and serve as sounding boards for their peer members.

“Our dealers have consistently asked for ways to learn from one another and to gain access to best practices in dealership management.” said Betsy Lazzara, director of Dealer Advantage. “Participation in a 20 Group affords dealers the opportunity to do both.”

Silver, Gold and Platinum level dealerships are eligible for discounted rates on group participation. The higher the dealership's level in Dealer Advantage, the greater its savings.

“This is not a manufacturer driven program,” said Dealer Advantage Manager Janel King. “Dealers will interact with other non-competitive dealerships of similar size and volume. They will tour each other's facilities and learn from each other's real business situations. This is truly an investment in the dealership's long-term profitability and success.”

20 Groups address all aspects of business management— from broad, industrywide issues, to more focused, department-specific topics. Each meeting consists of an agenda set by the group, with the selected topics addressing issues facing membership at the current time.

Brunswick Dealer Advantage has selected an industry leader to lead the 20 Group effort. Spader Business Management specializes in creating and facilitating 20 Groups. Groups meet two to three times per year to discuss their businesses, exchange ideas and ways to increase profits by learning from each other.

“These are dealers learning from other dealers,” said Spader President John Spader. “Advice seems to carry more weight when you are able to see, firsthand, how well something is working for someone else, doing what you do for a living.”

Brunswick Dealer Advantage features three levels of participation – Silver, Gold and Platinum– each based on the amount of the dealership's retail business with Brunswick boats and/or engines. The deeper the partnership with Brunswick, the higher the dealership's level of eligibility and the more benefits it can access through Dealer Advantage.

All U.S.-based marine dealerships that are in good standing and carry a Brunswick-owned boat line or Mercury Marine engines are eligible at the baseline silver level. There is no cost to participate in Brunswick Dealer Advantage, and dealers may opt to participate in none, all or some of the benefits depending on their unique business needs. Other Dealer Advantage benefits include customized retirement strategies, including 401(k) plans and succession planning; comprehensive health care coverage and dental and vision discounts; real estate advisory services; discounted rates on office supplies, computers and equipment, credit card processing, Internet advertising, payroll services, Web site design, wireless phone service, small package freight and more. To improve the retail customer experience, dealerships can take advantage of competitive retail financing, extended warranties and insurance offerings in-house.

“The litmus test for the addition of a Dealer Advantage program is if it improves dealer profitability or simplifies things for the dealer,” said Lazzara. “This is one of those rare programs that achieves both of those objectives.”
