Brunswick Foundation Awards $500,000 in Scholarships to Sons and Daughters of Company Employees

LAKE FOREST, Ill., May 17, 2007 – The Brunswick Foundation recently awarded more than $500,000 in scholarships to 100 sons and daughters of Brunswick Corporation employees.

This year, the Foundation granted 50 multi-year scholarships, which provide $2,500 per school year until completion of studies ($10,000 maximum) and 50 single-year $2,500 scholarships.

The winners span across 35 Brunswick locations in the United States and Canada and represent 16 Brunswick business units, including: Attwood Marine, Boston Whaler, Brunswick Bowling & Billiards, Brunswick Corporate, Cabo Yachts, Crestliner, Hatteras, Kellogg, Life Fitness, Lowe, Lund, Mercury Marine, Princecraft, Sea Ray, US Marine and Triton.

“Each year, we consider applicants worldwide for the Sons & Daughters Scholarship Program,” said Adrian W. Sakowicz, president of the Brunswick Foundation and vice president – community relations and corporate marketing alliances for Brunswick Corporation. “We recognize that higher education is of tremendous importance, and it is truly an honor to help these children pursue their goals.”

Scholarship recipients are selected by an impartial, outside committee comprised of professionals from Northwestern University, Evanston, Ill., University of Chicago Graduate School of Business; and Marquette University, Milwaukee. Scholarships are awarded based on the applicant's academic record and leadership abilities as demonstrated by extracurricular activities. Financial need is an additional consideration for the single-year awards, and all scholarships can only be used toward a baccalaureate degree.

The Brunswick Foundation, which celebrates its 50th anniversary this year, has been awarding scholarships to the children of Brunswick employees since its inception in 1957. In total, the Foundation has awarded more than $8 million in scholarships.
